Doctor Aged Care

Doctor Aged Care is a Melbourne-based specialist GP service that provides bulk-billed medical care to residents of aged care facilities across the city, rather than being a residential aged care facility itself. Founded by four GPs and now covering approximately 10% of nursing homes in Melbourne, the service sends vocationally registered, AHPRA-recognised doctors directly to residents in their aged care homes on a regular and urgent basis. The service includes falls prevention, memory assessments, comprehensive geriatric assessments, medication reviews, ACAS assessments, and coordination with allied health specialists including dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Bulk billing applies for Medicare and DVA card holders, with private fees for select non-clinical services. Operating hours are Monday to Friday 9 am–5 pm, with after-hours cover provided through an accredited deputising service.
