Aged care homes in Tasmania

162 facilities across 46 suburbs

Tasmania has around 70 residential aged care homes, and only about a third are in greater Hobart, around Sandy Bay, New Town, Lindisfarne and Glenorchy. The rest are split between Launceston and the Tamar in the north and the north-west coast around Devonport and Burnie.

More than four in five Tasmanian operators are not-for-profit, the highest share in the country, and a larger share of its rated homes hold five stars than in any other state. Because the population is spread across three regions, the nearest home is often in a different town, so it is worth widening the search early.

Home counts are residential homes on the government register. Star ratings are the Australian Government's.
