AgedCareAtlas is a free directory of aged care homes in Australia. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and what we do with it. The short version: you don't need to give us any personal information to use the site. If you send a message to a home or a business through one of our forms, we pass it to them and to no one else, and we never sell your details.

What we collect

Aggregate, anonymised usage data via Vercel Analytics: which pages were viewed, browser type, country-level location, referrer. No IP addresses are stored. No personally identifying information. We use this to understand which pages are useful and where the site is slow.

We do not use Google Analytics, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioural advertising tags.

What we store on your device

We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) for two small things:

• Your large-text preference, if you toggle it
• The list of facilities you've added to your comparison view

Both stay on your device. We never read or transmit them. You can clear them from your browser settings at any time.

We also use sessionStorage, which your browser deletes when you close the tab, to note how you arrived: the kind of place that sent you (for example "Google search", "another website" or "one of our emails"), the first page you opened, and a campaign name if our own link carried one. Never the address of the page you came from, and nothing that identifies you. We count arrivals by kind, and if you send an enquiry, we store those three things with it so we know which ways of reaching families work.

When you contact us

If you email us, we use your message only to respond; we don't add you to any mailing list. If you send an enquiry to an aged care home through our enquiry form, we store what you entered, including the consent wording you agreed to, and pass it to that home so they can respond to you. It goes to no one else. If, on the page that confirms your enquiry, you choose to send the same enquiry to other homes nearby, each one you pick receives it on the same terms. We may be paid by the home for the introduction; your details are never sold.

Advertising

Some pages show a card from a local business that pays to appear there, always labelled "Sponsored". Seeing or clicking the card sends the business nothing about you; we count views and clicks anonymously. If you use the card's form to ask the business a question and tick to agree, we pass your message, name and contact details to that business so it can reply, and to no one else.

We may in future display ads via Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads based on your prior visits to other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads. We never share your personal information with Google.

Facility data

The information shown about each facility comes from public sources: Google Maps, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) public register, and providers' own public websites. We don't access logins, paywalled portals, or any non-public data. Sources for each field are described on our About page.

Your rights under Australian privacy law

If you have only browsed, we hold nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing to delete or correct. If you have sent an enquiry or a message through one of our forms, you can ask to see the details we hold, or ask us to correct or delete them, by emailing us at the address below. We will also ask the home or business we passed them to to do the same.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle data, we'll update the date at the top of this page and explain the change in plain language. We won't quietly expand what we collect.
