Synovum Care Wynyard is a residential aged care facility located in Wynyard, Tasmania, offering both traditional nursing home care and innovative small-scale living houses. The main centre accommodates 56 residents and operates according to the philosophy of 'as normal a life as possible.' In 2014, the facility implemented two small-scale living houses, each with seven en-suite bedrooms, inspired by the de Hogeweyk dementia village model in the Netherlands. Each house features an open-plan dining and lounge area with a fully accessible kitchen and laundry, allowing residents to remain involved in daily activities such as meal planning, shopping, and preparation. The facility also offers respite care services.
