Akooramak Care of Older Persons

Akooramak Care of Older Persons is a community-owned, not-for-profit residential and community aged care provider in Warwick, Queensland, operated by the Warwick Benevolent Society and founded in 1876. The facility provides care and accommodation for 98 permanent residents in single ensuited rooms, most of them newly built or refurbished and air-conditioned, along with residential respite care and funded Home Care packages at levels one to four. It includes two secure 14-bed memory support wings for residents living with dementia, with 24/7 nursing, on-site catering from an accredited kitchen, a commercial laundry, visiting allied health professionals and visiting hairdressing. Accommodation pricing is publicly disclosed, ranging from $98.14 per day (or a $450,000 RAD) for an 18m² single ensuite room to $119.95 per day (or a $550,000 RAD) for a larger 28m² room. The service is fully accredited and emphasises its deep ties to, and support from, the local Warwick community.
