Korongee Dementia Village is a 12-home residential aged care facility in Derwent Park, Tasmania, specifically designed for people living with dementia and opened in July 2020. The village features a streetscape-like layout with four quiet cul-de-sacs connected by paths leading to a café, hairdresser, community centre, and grocery store. Each of the 12 homes accommodates eight residents in individual carpeted bedrooms with private ensuites, matched through a unique questionnaire-based system to enhance social engagement and wellbeing. The facility emphasises visual and natural wayfinding cues to support residents with dementia. Glenview credits this model of small-house living with positive impacts on the overall happiness, health, and wellbeing of its residents.
